The planning, monitoring and evaluation directorate coordinates the internal workings of the Ministry as well as liaises with other government of Rwanda ministries and institutions and development partners. PME directorate oversees the annual budget process, provides background and analysis to inform policy, monitors the fulfillment of ministry’s performance contracts (Imihigo) and coordinates with other stakeholders.

Functions of the PME Directorate

• Providing in-depth and permanent analysis/research of the private sector and it different sub sectors to inform policy and project design
• Mainstreaming of trade, industry, entrepreneurship issues into national planning instruments.

• Establishment of a system of consolidated, analyzed and useful statistics on the sector.
• Coordinate the private sector development and youth employment sector working group, which brings together all stakeholders in the sector, ensuring effective partnerships, information sharing and elimination of duplication.
• Coordinate and monitor the Ministry’s strategic plans, budget, annual actions plan and those of affiliated agencies.
